Help us preserve the history of girls’ and women’s sport in Iowa!

Julie Goodrich papers, Iowa Women’s Archives

Iowa has a rich history of girls and women participating in sports, thanks in part to 6-on-6 basketball. The Iowa Women’s Archives wants to make certain this history is not lost. Did you play 6-on-6 or 5-on-5 basketball? Did you play other sports–on a team or with friends and family? Did you cheer on your local team?

There are so many stories yet to be told. Please help us gather this important history.

We’re looking for:

  • Photos, scrapbooks, newspaper clippings
  • Letters, diaries, and reminiscences
  • Flyers and brochures
  • Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union yearbooks & printed material
  • Tournament programs–local district, state
  • Coaches’ records
  • Film, video, and audio of games and interviews
  • Fan memorabilia
  • And much more!

To share your story or donate materials, please contact us at 319-335-5068 or lib-women@uiowa.edu
